Karen Field - Commercial Director

 

Karen started her career in IT as a software engineer in real-time systems development in the 80’s. In 1987, she joined QA Training as Principal Consultant/Lecturer specialising in Microsoft Windows API development and Internet Technology. After successfully building the Microsoft Windows Division, she was appointed Consulting Practice Head. Whilst at QA, Karen gained an MBA. In 1996, Karen joined The Mandelbrot Set as Business Development Director, later assuming the position of Managing Director until its acquisition by Charteris plc in 2001.
 
Following the acquisition, Karen joined Charteris as Head of Operations, successfully building an effective and efficient operational model to support the business operations. Part of her remit also included the development and management of a first class business and technical consultant pool. She resigned from Charteris in 2006 to form Curo.

Karen has a passion for her horses.  No longer able to ride due to an injury, she and her husband spend their spare time looking after her Blue Cross Rescue horses. One of her greatest achievements has been to care for a “non-rideable” ex-racehorse; within 6 months he was given the all clear to be ridden again. She has a son and daughter who are luckily as passionate about horses as she is.
